Progressives hold viewpoints that lie on the far left of the political spectrum. They feed what they deem as"inequalities" in society and have made it their mission to change this country into something that it has never been. Their concept of freedom varies greatly from that of our founding fathers. Our constitution stressed that true liberty can only survive in a country that is free from government control. However, progressives think freedom is only attainable by government control. Our founding fathers wrote our constitution fully understanding that it would be subject to interpretation over time. But radical liberals tend to pick and choose which portions of the constitution they deem fit to be observed. Freedom of speech is only allowed if you share their ideology. They also seem to have missed the part of the 2nd amendment where it clearly states that our right to bear arms "shall not be infringed". Progressives gain support by picking out what they view as "discriminated" members of our society and fighting for their "rights". What they fail to see is that by isolating these groups of people, whether they be a specific race, religion, or sexual orientation, they are creating the discrimination and conflict they are so vehemently fighting against. In my opinion, if we continue to allow the number of progressives in this country to grow, our country will never be the same. We will become a society hellbent on being politically correct. Our welfare state will foster an environment under which working hard and becoming successful won't be worth it anymore. The motivation to work will be replaced with the complacency to survive comfortably off of our government. I will not idly stand by as our uninformed citizens, corrupt politicians, and biased media ruin our country.
